You alerted a sheer 25% above your quote, that is a lot!
This actually depends on the volume of the original quote. 25% of a 100 hrs = 25 hrs = a lot. 25% of 8 hrs = 2 hours..... Time flies if you're searching for the cause of a bug or bump into an unforeseen event/problem.
Why not a fixed price?
The Peep system stands midway an hourly rate and a fixed price. The Peep system applies in situations where both extremes (hourly rate versus fixed price) are neither reasonable nor feasible.
You are far too late to alert!
Some peeps can be given upfront. Others not. If it can be done, it should be and we will in most cases.
But if customers want extra or more in the last instance, then we would need a crystal ball to be able to alert upfront.
More hours, ok, but now you also go over your deadline....
We work according to a planning. We have several customers to serve in a work week. Unfortunately we can not always prevent a deadline being delayed if we have to do more or changed work. A deadline is sacred, but we can not squeeze 40 hrs in a day.
The possibilities we do have:
- adding experts to the team (but that is not always a solution to meet a deadline, communication time goes up)
- to be informed as early as possible on what changes or will be added (so we are better able to adjust our planning)
