Abstract

A Weekly session in Blockchain-lab (lab004) in A-lab Amsterdam.

Thursday afternoon 14:00 PM 'Who dares?!' or 'Who wants to boost his/her ideas?'

An outsider comes to A-lab to present and discuss his or hers blockchain-approach. The available group of blockchain-lab expert question the presenter critically. And they offer their recommendations afterwards.

The goal is networking, quality improvement of ideas (the lab function!), etc.

It is free, without payment!

What's in it for...

...the speaker - ambassador from outside

Test plans in a safe trusted (explicitly non disclosed)environment.
Access to a team of specialists

...the associate and member of Blockchain-lab

The lab-function: learn how to interview and audit a third party plan
The team function: learn about the specific expertise of other Blockchain-lab members and associates
The pre-sales function: a speaker might be impressed by what the team and certain individuals have to say and how they say it

...the blockchain-lab

Blockchain-lab builds culture through the session with third parties, discussing their business cases. The lab function consists of learning how the ask questions, how to intervene in a clear but diplomatic way, etc.
Via these sessions the professional network of blockchain-lab grows.

...outsiders

Outsiders can read the meeting minutes. Only A-lab blockchain-lab member are privileged to attend the session.

How it is done

Apart from a standardised preparation and work done in various roles and responsibilities the actual session is a pretty clean cut:

1. Room is sufficiently filled with prepared blockchain-experts and or experts on the topic of the presentation. Camera running if possible, Decision made about social media activity, someone or two people make notes, etc.
2. Presenter makes his or her plea, the status of the information exchanged is clear upfront/ Either disclosable or not. Expertise added from the expert-forum present is always open source (CC by SA) - max 15 minutes.
3. 'Why don't you use a database - phase'. Positive reflection / peer review - max. 30 minutes
4. Conclusions, next steps, advice, name dropping, url-flipping - max 15 minutes
5. After exactly 1 hrs the meeting is done and just half an hour later the writers of the recommendation finalize their words.

What is said and not said

The meeting is behind closed doors. Associates and members of Blockchain-lab have committed themselves to a non-disclosure to offer a trusted environment for the presenter to fully speak out about plans and their challenges in an early stage of developments.

But of course we would like to be able to speak out in the open about subjects and topics so speaker that allow this, will get preference.

The standard letters

Invitation_selection 'Bake Off'

Dear ...,

At blockchain-lab we have a weekly session with people from outside our organisation on Tuesday mornings. Our goal is to test and strengthen ideas. Those ideas could be an approach that you have in your own organization to bring the blockchain innovation under the attention of your colleagues, a design of a product or service, either targeted internally of at customers.

Our question is simple: would you mind to come and perform for us one time? If so, would Tuesday ... or Tuesday .... fit your agenda?

Request for proposal

The content of the 15 minutes presentation is very crucial for the rest of the session:

1. It needs to have substance for the experts in the room, but the introduction in text has to be brief (Make an abstract)
2. It must be an open discussion. If a presenter were to withhold crucial information for the group of experts, the latter might be not taken seriously and respected for their free advice and/or assessment. Dare to put yourself in a vulnerable position. It is safe.
3. Please send in the questions you have that you would like to have answered or given a view on by the group of experts.
